Today I'm sharing a Formation quilt in the Baby size.  This quilt is made with Kona Cottons in Blues from my stash, using the triangle backing fabric as a guide.  Formation is a quick and easy quilt pattern that includes 5 sizes and is fat quarter friendly.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Formation Quilt Pattern

You know I love to spoil you with all of the quilt sizes, and Formation is no exception!  Included are instructions for five sizes.  I love doing all of the math to figure out the sizes.
  • Baby
  • Throw
  • Twin
  • Queen
  • King
Formation is a fat quarter-friendly quilt pattern, so using your fabric stash is easy.  You can also cut the number of squares listed in the pattern, which is what I did to make this quilt from my solids scraps.

Formation is a flying geese quilt pattern, and they are made oversized and then trimmed down.  The FG trimmer I recommend for this pattern is the Wing Clipper, available here and here.  Not all flying geese trimming rulers include the size of flying geese made in this pattern.

The Fabrics

This simple quilt is made with Kona Cotton Solids in Blues from my solids stash.
The triangle backing fabric is also from my stash, and was the guide I used to choose which blue fabrics to use.  I have held on to this fabric for just the right Baby quilt backing, and it's perfect for Formation.

In the Formation quilt pattern, the binding may be cut from the fat quarters, or a separate cut of yardage is called out as an option.  The binding on this quilt is scraps from all of the blues.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting

This Baby quilt is quilted with a simple wave digital design on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher in gray thread.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.
