Stars are popular designs in quilts, and today I have a Giant Star quilt to share with you! This is a quick and easy quilt that will look great in the favorite colors of whomever you're making your quilt for.
Scroll down in this post for more ideas of fabric combinations for Giant Star.
This is a great pattern to make quilts for guys. It looks great in man colors, as well as sports team colors.
Four Sizes!
Giant Star includes four sizes - Lap, Throw, Queen, and King - all rectangular with the length just a bit larger than the width. All four sizes are the exact same design with a different size of block in each size. This means that the star in the King size will be Giant indeed! Fantastically so!

Throw Size
Queen Bed Size
King Bed Size
Because the blocks are so large, in all the sizes really, this quilt is quick and easy to make.
Moda Grunge for the Win!
Moda Grunge has been my favorite go-to fabric for quite awhile now. It's so versatile as it reads as a solid but has variations in color that add a lot of depth to a quilt. This fabric is made entirely of Moda Grunge Seeing Spots in tans, taupes, and gray-browns. You will find Grunge fabrics right here and here.
This quilt was made by my professional sewist, Kare, and quilted and bound by me.
Speaking of fabric selection, here are a few mockups so you can see what Giant Star will look like in other colors. These are all solid fabrics. I aimed for modern color combinations, as well as a Quilt of Valor.
The back of the pattern gives a fabric placement guide, so you'll know where each fabric number is placed in the quilt top.
Are you looking for a quick Quilt of Valor pattern? Giant Star may be just what you need! This is a quilt that a veteran would love in red, white, and blue.
Giant Star Goes a Tripping!
Giant Star got to take a trip across the country to visit Checker Distributors in Ohio to be part of their online Quilt Market! You'll see the two other quilts that also went along in this video. They are featured at timestamp 17:10. Click here to go to the video on YouTube.
Checker Distributors carries the entire line of Busy Hands Quilts printed quilt patterns.
Longarm Quilting
Giant Star was quilted in Diagonal Bias Plaid in tan thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher. I love this modern design that stitches out so nicely.
This quilt is the Throw size which finishes at 64" x 72", a generous size for a sofa throw. Maybe you call them couches or davenports; in this area we call them sofas. :)
