If you are someone who is looking for a quilt pattern that would create the most darling baby blanket, then you've come to the right place! Meet Jacks! The Baby size makes the perfect Wall Hanging, which is what I intend to use this quilt for with the attached rod pocket on the back.
The background is Kona Navy, paired with select prints from the Hudson fabric collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics and a subtle navy print for the accent fabric. The quilt pattern includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Full, Queen, and King. Turn this quilt pattern into your very own for that special loved one in your family.
The Jacks quilt pattern
The name Jacks is inspired by the game Jacks that we played as kids. The game brings back so many fun memories, which is why I personally loved working with this quilt.
You too can create beautiful memories with the Jacks quilt pattern. This pattern would make a charming gift that your family will love because it was specially made by you! 💖
The Jacks quilt pattern is written for fat quarters or 1/4-yard cuts, and I've recently discovered that fat eighths work also.
This quilt pattern includes so many sizes - only the Twin size didn't work out mathematically.
Choose From 6 Sizes
I love this quilt pattern so much that I am giving you 6 different sizes you can choose from! The quilt displayed in the pictures is in baby, which I think would make such a wonderful addition to your own little bundle of joy, and is the perfect size for a wall hanging or table topper. The quilt sizes and print requirements are listed below (the same for FQs and 1/4-yard cuts):
- Baby 3 FQs
- Lap 4 FQs
- Throw 7 FQs
- Full 10 FQs
- Queen 14 FQs
- King 17 FQs
You can also use Fat Eighths with this quilt pattern - which I didn't realize when I wrote it. Actually FEs have never been on my radar to use because I have never bought a bundle in my entire life, but in making the Jacks quilt in a bundle of Dream Rainbow fabrics and wanting each block to be a different color, I realized that half of a FQ works perfectly! You would need one fat eighth for each block in the quilt (refer to the pattern for the number of blocks required for each size).
I will now be considering Fat Eighths as an option to use in future quilt patterns. :)
Beautiful Fabrics
This quilt is made with a few of the navy, pink and gray prints from the Hudson fabric collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics. I love the itty bitty florals! The pattern is written for fat quarters which make three Jacks blocks each, but fat eighths work with a little bit more fabric waste as they make only one block apiece. This is a great way to get more variety in the Jacks blocks, however, which is exactly what I was after in this wall hanging.
The backing used on this particular pattern is a gray piano print, available right here in our shop.
I am also happy to share that attached to this quilt is a hanging rod pocket made for easy hanging. This quilt design could make a beautiful addition to your bed or for displaying on your wall for everyone to see!
The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts Shop.
Longarm Machine Quilting
The quilting design in this piece is Flower Spray by Patricia Ritter in navy thread stitched out on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher. The design is sized very small as a focal point on the quilt since it will be used as a wall hanging.
I have to tell you how much I love the added detail in this quilt design. The floral pattern just looks so elegant and whimsical. I am also very pleased with how the musical notes came out on the other side. This is just such a fun looking quilt that would make such a lovely gift for someone! I can't help but smile when I look at it. : )
This navy fabric was hard to capture at its true color. The accent fabric and the background are subtly different in person and the difference isn't as striking as shown in some of these images.
The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts Shop.
