Today I'm excited to share this vibrant Mountain Peaks quilt in fire with you!  Mountain Peaks is an easy quilt to make.  This pattern is made with half log cabins and is a spin-off from the Waterfall II quilt pattern, with the addition of sashing between the logs.

The on-point setting with pieced setting triangles create an illusion of mountains.  The fabric is Moda Grunge with Cultivar quilting design in orange thread.  Backing is Widescreen by Robert Kaufman in Black.  :)

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Mountain Peaks Quilt Pattern

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is quick and easy.  With so many blocks being identical to one another, it's really easy to chain piece at every step, speeding up the process.  You'll love how the setting triangles are made, too, which is different than the Waterfall and Waterfall II patterns.

Four Quilt Sizes!

Another great feature of Mountain Peaks is that the quilt pattern includes four quilt sizes!  Previous on-point log cabin patterns featured only two quilt sizes because that's what worked out mathematically, but the block size in this pattern made four sizes of quilts possible.  Yay!
  • Baby quilt size
  • Throw quilt size
  • Queen bed size
  • King bed size

Yardage Friendly Quilt Pattern

Because the blocks are all made with the same fabrics, this is a yardage-friendly quilt pattern.  Typically a gradation ombre effect would be created with four or five fabrics in a single colorway, but the Fire version breaks that idea into flames.  :)

Made with yellows, oranges, reds, and purple on a background of black, it's definitely a fiery quilt.

This pattern would be amazing made with scraps, with each block different and perhaps even all fabrics in the blocks being different rather than having two strips of the same print.

Beautiful Neutral Fabrics

The fabric is Moda Grunge with Cultivar quilting design in orange thread.  It's a beautiful quilt-shop quality fabric collection of tone-on-tone prints.

Longarm Quilting Design

The digital quilting design used on this quilt is called Cultivar, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher in orange thread.  The design in this pattern mimics flames.
