Meet the My Farmhouse quilt pattern! My Farmhouse is a quick and easy jelly roll quilt pattern. The pattern is strip pieced and is a great way to get your feet wet if you're new to strip piecing.
You can make the Throw size with 30 strips - less than one jelly roll! That's great news since most jelly rolls have a few fabrics that could be left out since they blend in too much with the background, whether that be a light fabric or a dark fabric.
Jelly Roll Precut Friendly
The My Farmhouse quilt pattern is precut friendly and is perfect for jelly roll strips. The Throw size is made with less than one jelly roll - 30 strips - so you can leave out the strips that blend in too much with the background fabric. The Twin XL size requires 45 strips - just a few more than a typical jelly roll, so you can cut a few strips off the coordinating backing fabric you've chosen or add in a few strips from your stash.
Three Sizes!
The My Farmhouse quilt pattern includes three sizes - Throw, Twin XL, and Queen - for true value. The other sizes, such as Baby and King, are not included because they don't work out mathematically to those sizes while preserving the pattern design. Most unfortunate, I agree.
The Twin XL size is longer than a standard Twin quilt and makes a pillow tuck on a regular Twin bed.
Throw Quilt 58" x 70"
Twin XL Bed Quilt 70" x 94"
Queen Bed Quilt 94" x 94"
Oh Those Fabrics!
This My Farmhouse quilt is made with Notting Hill by Amy Smart for Riley Blake Designs. It's one of my favorite fabric collections ever, and this is my third quilt patterns with this fabric in the cover quilt; the other two are Belle and Woven Windows. The background fabric is Kona Windsor. The backing is the large floral from the collection.
Notting Hill is a lovely collection of florals, small and large, plaids, ginghams, ditty dots, and flags in my favorite blend of navy, red, pinks, aqua, green, and yellow; all a tiny bit faded for old-fashioned flair. You can find Notting Hill right here and here (use the search bar to find it). The second site has the jelly rolls deeply discounted today.
Longarm Quilting
This My Farmhouse quilt is quilted with a floral design on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher in navy thread.
This quilt was sewn by my professional sewist Joanne and quilted and bound by me.
Quick, Easy, Beginner Friendly
My Farmhouse is a quick and easy quilt pattern that includes strip piecing. If you are new to strip piecing, this is a great pattern to learn more about it. Strip piecing is sewing strips of fabric together, pressing, and then sub-cutting them into a specific width, and then rearranging these segments and sewing them together to create blocks.
Strip piecing really speeds up the piecing process, and it is included in my quilt patterns whenever it makes sense to use it. Faster piecing = more quilts! ♥
