Simplicity Quilt Pattern - a Throw in Wild Crimson!

Simplicity Quilt Pattern - a Throw in Wild Crimson!

Today I'm sharing a quilt from last year!  This Simplicity quilt has had to wait at every step of the quilt-making process, and today is her day to shine!

The Simplicity quilt pattern is a quick and easy HST pattern.  The larger bed sizes are made with larger blocks to make the process go much faster.  I didn't think you really wanted to make almost 700 HSTs for a king size, so the block size is increased in bed sizes.  :)

The Simplicity quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Simplicity Quilt Pattern

The Simplicity quilt pattern is a beginner friendly quilt pattern that is quick and easy.  If you've never made an HST, or even if you are a seasoned quilter, this pattern is for you.  All of the math for all of the quilt sizes is included in the instructions.  The Twin, Queen, and King bed sizes are made with larger blocks for a faster finish.

    Baby Size  40" x 44"

    Throw Size  52" x 68"

    Twin Bed Size  70" x 90"

    Queen Bed Size  96" x 102"

    King Bed Size  112" x 98"

Precuts - Charm Square and Fat Quarter Friendly

Simplicity is charm square friendly in the Baby and Throw sizes, and Fat Quarter friendly in the Throw, Twin, Queen, and King sizes.  Of course you can use scraps or yardage - just cut the quantity of squares in the size indicated in the pattern for the quilt size you're making.

Baby size - charm square friendly

Throw size - both charm square and fat quarter friendly

Twin bed size - fat quarter friendly

Queen bed size - fat quarter friendly

King bed size - fat quarter friendly

Fabric Selection

This Simplicity quilt is made with Wild Crimson, an older fabric collection by Connecting Threads.  It's a lovely mix of blues, reds, and tans in florals, dots, plaids, and tone-on-tones.  The background fabric in each half-square triangle block is a dotted cream.  I love putting dots as the background fabric for added dimension and surprise value.

The binding is the blue, red, and cream plaid from the collection, and the backing is the medium blue floral from the collection.

This quilt is made by Joan, a professional sewist, and quilted and bound by me.

The Simplicity quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting

The quilting design is Halcyon, a digital design in cream thread, done on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.  I really like the simplicity of this design.

Binding Love!

The binding on this Simplicity quilt is the navy, red, and cream plaid from the Wild Crimson fabric collection.  Oh my, I love plaid bindings so much!  My other favorite bindings are stripes and dots for a touch of pizzazz around the whole quilt.  When I design quilt kits for fabric companies, the binding will always be one of these fabric designs if they are included in the collection being used.
