Today America honors our Veterans. I'm thankful for all who've served in our military to win and preserve our freedoms.
On Veterans' Day 2021, I'm happy to share a brand-new American quilt pattern called Star Spangled, an American flag design. The Twin size qualifies for the Quilt of Valor program, a program with specific requirements for quilters to make quilts for veterans.
This quilt pattern includes two sizes - Twin and King - and is Accuquilt friendly, though a fabric cutter is not required.
Two Quilt Sizes!
The Star Spangled quilt pattern includes two sizes - Twin and King. Both sizes are the same design with different block sizes, and the King size has a few less rows than the Twin. Yes, you read that right; the King has a few less rows than the Twin size.
This is the Twin size laid out on a Queen size bed.
Accuquilt Friendly!
Star Spangled is an Accuquilt friendly quilt pattern, though a fabric cutter is not required, and traditional cutting and piecing instructions are included.
Fabrics
This Twin size Star Spangled quilt is made with many, many different fabrics. The reds range from orangey-red to deep red, and the navys range from admiral blue to deep navy. Most of the red and navy fabrics have some white in them. The low volume white fabrics have a bit of red and/or blue in them.
Longarm Quilting
This quilt is quilt with a gentle wave from side to side in white thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher, to mimic a flag waving in the wind.
